Properties of nitrile butadiene rubber

NBR. Properties of nitrile butadiene rubber:

Nitrile butadiene rubber is prepared by emulsion polymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile. Mainly using low temperature emulsion polymerization production, excellent oil resistance, high wear resistance, good heat resistance, strong adhesion. Its disadvantages are poor low temperature resistance, poor ozone resistance, poor electrical performance, slightly lower elasticity.

In addition, it also has good water resistance, air tightness and excellent bonding properties. Widely used in making a variety of oil-resistant rubber products, a variety of oil-resistant gaskets, gaskets, sleeves, flexible packaging, soft rubber hose, printing and dyeing cots, cable rubber materials, etc., in the automobile, aviation, petroleum, copying and other industries become essential elastic materials.

Nitrile butadiene rubber has excellent oil resistance, its oil resistance is second only to polysulfide rubber and fluorine rubber, and has wear resistance and air tightness. The disadvantage of nitrile rubber is that it is not resistant to ozone and aromatic, halogenated hydrocarbon, ketone and ester solvents, and is not suitable for insulation.

Comparison with other rubber properties

NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiethylene. There is low acrylonitrile (25%) depending on the amount of propylene. Medium acrylic sunny (33%) and high acrylic sunny (45%) three grades. With the increase of acrylonitrile content, the polarity of the copolymer compound increased, oil resistance improved, but too high copolymer resistance to bending and winding, water resistance and dielectric properties are reduced.

The use of nitrile rubber

The polarity of nitrile rubber is very strong, and the compatibility with other polymers is generally not good, but with chloroprene rubber, modified phenolic resin, polyvinyl chloride and other polymer polarity, especially with chlorine polymer has good compatibility, often used. In addition, in order to improve the processability and serviceability, nitrile butadiene rubber is often used with natural rubber, butadiene styrene rubber, butadiene rubber and other non-polar rubber. It should be noted that nitrile butadiene rubber is characterized by good oil resistance and tends to decrease oil resistance when used with other polymers (except polyvinyl chloride).

Advantages of NBR:

A strong polarity -- CN bond, so the surface of the sulfide adhesive has a strong solvent resistance;

B has good physical and mechanical properties. High initial tensile strength, high elongation, excellent wear resistance;

C strong continuance;

D is better than NR.

NBR has excellent oil resistance and tensile strength, so it is suitable for making all kinds of oil seals and so on.

Main use

Nitrile rubber is mainly used in the production of oil-resistant products, such as tubing, tape, rubber diaphragm and large oil capsule, often used in the production of all kinds of oil-resistant molding products, such as O-ring, oil seal, bowl, diaphragm, valve, bellows, and also used in the production of rubber plate and wear-resistant parts.
